چکیده

ABSTRACT The rotation of a magnetized accreting neutron star (NS) in binary system is described by its spin period and two angles: inclination α with respect to the orbital momentum magnetic angle χ between moment. Magnetospheric accretion spins NS up adjusts axis, decreasing nearly perfect alignment. Its effect upon more subtle relatively unstudied. In this work, we model evolution rigid spherical NS. We find that torque spinning may affect while both significantly deviate from zero, spin-up varies phase period. As axis being aligned torque, becomes misaligned axis. Under favourable conditions, increase Δχ ∼ 15°−20°. This orthogonalization be an important factor millisecond pulsars, as it partially compensates decrease potentially caused pulsar torques. If direction changes randomly time, wind-fed high-mass X-ray binaries, become involved non-linear random-walk evolution. ultimate attractor process bimodal distribution peaking at = 0° 90°.

Magnetic field evolution of accreting neutron stars

We study the evolution of the magnetic field of an accreting neutron star in the frozen field and incompressible fluid approximations. The plasma is accreted onto two polar caps and squeezes some of the surface material of the neutron star toward the equator. The frozen B-field is then pushed toward the equator and is eventually buried there. The magnetic field within the polar cap areas, which...

Magnetic Screening in Accreting Neutron Stars

We investigate whether the magnetic field of an accreting neutron star may be diamagnetically screened by the accreted matter. We assume the freshly accumulated material is unmagnetized, and calculate the rate at which the intrinsic stellar magnetic flux is transported into it via Ohmic diffusion from below. For very high accretion rates Ṁ (larger than the Eddington rate ṀEdd), Brown and Bildst...

Gravitational Radiation Evolution of Accreting Neutron Stars

The gravitational-wave and accretion driven evolution of neutron stars in low mass X-ray binaries and similar systems is analyzed, while the amplitude of the radiating perturbation (here assumed to be an r-mode) remains small. If most of the star is superfluid, with (temperature independent) mutual friction dominating the ordinary (temperature dependent) shear viscosity, the amplitude of the mo...

Evolution of magnetic field and spin period in accreting neutron stars

Based on the accretion-induced magnetic field decay model, in which a frozen field and an incompressible fluid are assumed, we obtain the following results: (1) an analytic relation between the magnetic field and spin period, if the fastness parameter of the accretion disk is neglected (The evolutionary tracks of accreting neutron stars in the P-B diagram in our model are different from the equ...

Neutrinos from Accreting Neutron Stars

The magnetospheres of accreting neutron stars develop electrostatic gaps with huge potential drops. Protons and ions, accelerated in these gaps along the dipolar magnetic field lines to energies greater than 100 TeV, can impact onto a surrounding accretion disc. A proton-induced cascade so develops, and ν-emission is produced from charged pion decays. Using GEANT4, a computer code that tracks p...
